Do what you like

Joe Gibbs (the reggae producer, not the Redskins coach) once said,

“People who enjoy what they are doing invariably do it well”

I think that’s very true. A lot of people come to R-Design with some scheme or another about how to get rich quick….usually through some sort of new website. In most cases, they’re thinking solely of the money and they just want to sit back and relax while the dough rolls in. In reality, the only time that really occurs is when your rich Uncle Spalding happens to die at the very moment you recline in the beach chair with your first margarita.

What I’m saying is that most endeavors that make people really rich require a lot of hard work (at the very least, in the initial stages). Most successful entrepreneurs have stories of being broke (or almost broke), working very long hours at some point, and also loving whatever it was they were doing.

That’s the key - love what you’re doing. If you really love what you’re doing, the rest falls into place just a little more easily. You don’t mind the long hours because you’re having fun. You don’t mind being broke so much because you’re too busy having fun on the job that you’d never have time to spend the money if you had it.

I’m not saying that as long as you love what you’re doing, you’ll be the next Richard Branson or Bill Gates, but it certainly makes your chances of monetary success a lot better. So, next time you’re scratching your head for the next big idea that’s going to make you millions, start with what you know and go from there - or pucker up and start kissing Uncle Spalding’s butt. (Your choice).
